Pakistan Association arranged in Sydney a Farewell for H.E. Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani

The Pakistan Association
of Australia arranged a farewell dinner in honour of Pakistan’s High
Commissioner for Australia Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani. The farewell was held at the
evening of 23rd October 2009 at function centre Himalaya Restaurant Sydney. Syed
Jalil Abbas Jilani is High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for
Australia since 22 June 2007. A senior career diplomat Jalil Abbas Jilani will
be Pakistan’s new envoy to Belgium and the European Union at Brussels. H.
E.Jilani is moving to Brussels in the last week of November.
Hon Laurie Ferguson MP Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and
Settlement Services & Hon. David Lawrence BORGER,Member of the Legislative
Assembly Member for Granville, Minister for Housing, Minister for Western Sydney
& Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport NSW and large numbers of
notables attended the function. The Ministers, PAA President Iftikhar Rana,
General Secretary Insaf Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion and lauded the
diplomatic skills of Jalil Jilani and his contribution for the welfare of the
Pakistani community living n Australia. Mr. Iftikhar & Mr. Insaf appreciated
services of High Commissioner Syed jalil abbas Jilani. The Pakistan Association
of Australia also presented a memorial shield to Jalil Abbas Jilani. PAA also
presented souvenir and gifts to former General Secretary Latif Chaudhary who is
shifting from Sydney to Lahore Pakistan.
Cultural Secretary Mr. Ashraf Ali Chohan presented a documentary and visibility
report about the Pakistani Community Centre Sydney. In the end High Commissioner
Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani thanked PAA & all distinguished guests. He hailed the
efforts being exerted by the Australian Government for its permanent standing by
the side of the Pakistani people in its difficult circumstances particularly in
the massive quake disaster or humanitarian crisis posed by more than two million
displaced from Sawat areas.
Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani said that Pakistan army has made a lot of sacrifice to
push back the Taliban advances first in Swat and now in South Waziristan. He
reiterated that Pakistan is committed to eliminate terrorism. He also thanks
Australian Army positive role for Pakistan’s Army. The Consul General of
Pakistan to Sydney Mr. Azam Mohammed, New Consular Hamid Asghar & community
professionals were also present at the farewell Dinner of PAA for the His
Excellency Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani.
