hosted a Welcome Dinner in the honour of New High Commissioner Irfan Shaukat
The Pakistan Association of Australia (PAA) hosted a warm and
well-attended meet and greet evening and welcome dinner in honour of the newly
appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan to Australia, His Excellency Irfan
Shaukat. The event brought together distinguished diplomats, community
leaders, and prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora. The event was held at
Himalaya Function Centre, Granville Sydney on Saturday, 13th Nov
2025.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Qamar Zaman, Consul General of Pakistan,
Former Member of Parliament Hon. Shaoquett Moselmani, President of the Pakistan Australia
Business Council Mr. Iftikhar Rana, President Alamdar Foundation Mr. Qalb e
Abbas, President Pak Australia Association Mr. Ejaz Khan and several respected
community representatives. Attendees described the gathering as an important
step in strengthening diplomatic relations and community engagement.
Opening
the ceremony, Mr. Nabeel
Khan, General Secretary of the Pakistan Association of Australia,
extended a warm welcome on behalf of PAA President Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry,
Senior Vice President Mr.
Ashraf Chohan, Public Officer Mr. Rana Zafar Hussain,
Cultural Secretary Mrs. Sanam Mukhtar, Trustees Mr. Ahsan Khan and Ch. Nazim, and the
entire PAA team. Welcoming the High Commissioner, Mr. Khan highlighted the significance of his appointment
for the Pakistani community in Australia. He expressed gratitude to the guests
for their presence and expressed
great pride in hosting a gathering that reflected the unity, diversity, and
strength of the Pakistani community.
Mr. Khan emphasised the importance of collaboration between community
organisations and the High Commission to advance shared goals, enhance
community services, and promote the positive image of Pakistan in Australia. He
reiterated that PAA will continue to create meaningful platforms for community
engagement and representation. Highlighting
PAA’s longstanding role, he noted that the Association has consistently served
as a bridge for the Pakistani community, promoting cultural exchange, goodwill,
and a positive image of Pakistan in Australia. Through festivals, charity
initiatives, and national-day celebrations, PAA continues to showcase the
warmth, talent, and generosity of the Pakistani diaspora. Mr. Khan emphasized
PAA’s commitment to working closely with His Excellency and the High Commission
in strengthening bilateral engagement, empowering the community, and ensuring
every Pakistani in Australia feels proud to call both nations home.
PABC President Mr. Iftikhar Rana shared his vision for
strengthened cooperation with the High Commission, noting that such
collaboration could pave the way for major community projects, including the
establishment of a dedicated community centre for Pakistani Australians
and a Muslim cemetery to serve the broader Muslim population.
President of PAA, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry, acknowledged the
dedication of his entire team and extended heartfelt thanks to all
participants. He stated that the unwavering support and unity of the community
remain the driving force behind the Association’s progress. He affirmed that
PAA will continue organising positive, inclusive, and community-building
initiatives.
The Consul General of Pakistan, Hon. Qamar Zaman, addressed the
audience and expressed his continued commitment to supporting the Pakistani
community in Australia, emphasising the importance of active involvement and
representation.
His Excellency Irfan Shaukat, High Commissioner in his address,
thanked the Pakistan Association of Australia for the warm welcome. He
highlighted the vital role of community organisations in connecting the
diaspora with national institutions and stressed the importance of empowering
and involving youth, who he noted are essential to the future of the
community.
