Australian and Pakistan Armies Climb 7000 M Summit in Pakistan

A Joint Expedition Team of Australian and Pakistan Armies Climb a 7028 M high mountain "Spantik" in the Gilgit-Baltistan on 3 Aug 11. The Expedition planning began some 6 months back and the Team was in Pakistan since the 2nd week of Jul. All the 15 climbers could scale the summit with two porters taking the total no to 17. Spantik is some 70 km NW of Skardu. The Team is likely to meet with General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army.Australian Deputy Head of the Mission from their High Commission in Islamabad will also be invited to attend. The Expedition was Commanded jointly by the officers from both Armies.
This is a wonderful example that amply exhibits the diversity of mutual cooperation and deep military relationship enjoyed by both the countries.
