On Sunday,13th of November 2011,at the Lunch time, the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Australia Pakistan Medical Association (APMA) was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel Norwest Sydney.APMA Constitution was adopted & Elections were held.The
Meeting was attended by large number of Doctors. Among attending were some well known senior doctors namely Dr S.Farooq Wasti , Dr Ghulam Akber Khan, Dr Amanullah Khan, Dr Tauqir Ahmad, Dr M.Amjad, Dr Ishrat Ali,Dr S.Kirmani,Dr Akram Bangash,Dr S.M.Habib,Dr NoorJehan Hussain was also present in the APMA AGM.APMA aims to
-enhance medical education and opportunities for Pakistani medical professionals,
-guide and assist health professionals from Pakistan to start their career in Australia
-promote developments and improvements in the health sector in Pakistan through collaborations and partnerships
-address current medical issues both in Australia and Pakistan
-encourage social integration of Pakistani health professionals in Australia through networking and social functions
APMA is an Independent, Non Political, Non Religious, Non Profit organization incorporated in NSW Australia and will have no Political or Religious affiliations or activities.
Dr Sayeed Khan and his colleagues have been working for the past 12 months to form APMA and after a slow start, gathered momentum and started to form a group of core members. The work became very rewarding, encouraging and pleasurable. These core members are reflected in the Executive Committee, which comprises of talented, hardworking and diverse individuals who will lead APMA with vigour and strength to achieve its vision and objectives.

On this occasion Dr Wasti, Dr Amanullah Khan and Dr Ghulam Akbar Khan wished APMA great success in their future endeavours and gave them their blessings.
In his Presidential speech Dr Sayeed Khan on behalf of the newly elected executive committee pledged that
We will uphold, protect and follow the APMA constitution.
We will provide leadership and diversity to our members and the medical profession.
We will be transparent in all our operations and processes.
We will always be accountable to our members and the Association.
We will always consult our members and always strive to represent them.
Fred Hollows had a vision of ending preventable blindness and "RESTORING SIGHT FOR JUST $25"
The Fred Hollows Foundation is working to make Freds vision - a reality.
The foundation is working for blindness in places such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, south Africa and Pakistan. Gabi Hollows gave a brief summary of the work carried out by the Fred Hollows Foundation in Pakistan .
Gabi Hollows has been the driving force behind the Fred Hollows Foundation since she helped set it up with Fred Hollows, her late husband, in 1992.
As the public face of The Foundation, a founding director and patron of the Foundations Miracle Club, she has been recognised for her ongoing work by Rotary International. Gabi Hollows is one of the 100 living treasures in Australia
She gave her best wishes to APMA and hopes to cooperate with the organisation in the future with their dealings and projects in Pakistan.
