Pakistan Earthquake Fundraising Night
Organized by Vietnamese Community Melbourne
Last Saturday
Vietnamese Community of Melbourne organized a fundraising night to collect
donations for Pakistan Earthquake Victim relief fund.
Secretary PAFA Khawar Saleem Khan attended this event in Melbourne on the
special request of organizing committee of the fundraising night.
More than $16000 was raised through auction of paintings and
donations from Vietnamese community and businesses.
President of Quang Minh Temple Mr.Ven Thich Phuoc Tan handed over the cheque
of $6000 to Khawar Saleem.
Member of Parliament for Vietnamese community Mr.Sam Vinh MLA handed over
the cheque of $10675.00 to Khawar.
President of Vietnamese community in his speech said that Vietnamese and
Pakistani community have many things in common both communities are middle
class communities and in difficult situations only poor nations think and
feel about each other. President of Vietnamese sent condolences and
sympathies of all Vietnamese community to Pakistanis for lost of lives due
to this horrendous calamity.
Khawar Saleem thanked the Vietnamese community for their generosity and
expressed the deep gratitude on behalf of Pakistani community and the
victims of Pakistani earthquake. He also expressed that this act of kindness
from Vietnamese community in Victoria has touched his heart.
On Tuesday 13th December 2005 President of
PAFA Abdul Ansari and Secretary PAFA Khawar Saleem handed over these cheques
to H.E Mr Babbar W. Malik High Commissioner of Pakistan.
High Commissioner
of Pakistan will send thank you letters to the Vietnamese community
organizations in Victoria.
PAFA is also sending a thank you letter on the behalf of Pakistani Community
to these organizations and Vietnamese community as a whole.
