International Cricket Council Defers Decision on Indian Cricket League in Perth Meeting
The International Cricket Council starts a two day board meeting in Perth. The head of Zimbabwe Cricket has been refused entry into Australia and he is absent from a meeting of the sport's world leaders in Western Australia.
The status of the ICL is still in limbo, with the ICC board having deferred considering the Indian Twenty20 league's application for approval pending further discussions between the BCCI, ICL and the ICC. On the first day of its meeting in Perth a ICC-appointed task team presented an interim report on the state of the game in Zimbabwe to board, which was informed "that none of the stakeholders spoken to during the visit were of the view that Zimbabwe was ready to return to Test cricket, with timeframes proposed ranging from six months to two years or more".
Those who are attending the meeting include David Morgan (President ICC), Sharad Pawar (Vice-President ICC) Haroon Lorgat (Chief Executive ICC) Jack Clarke (Australia) Mahbubul Anam (Bangladesh) Giles Clarke (England) Shashank Manohar (India) Alan Isaac (New Zealand) Ijaz Butt (Pakistan) S Liyaganama (Sri Lanka) Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka (South Africa) Dr Julian Hunte (West Indies).
The President of Pakistan Cricket Board Mr. Ejaz Butt will stay in Perth for three days and then he will fly to Melbourne for one day where he will hold two meetings with officials of the Australian Cricket Board. The Chairman PCB Mr. Ejaz Butt will departure on Wednesday, 4th Feb from Melbourne to Lahore.
