Pakistan International Airlines is Starting via Colombo Flights for Australia: MD
The Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA) will acquire more planes for its fleet. This was stated by the
Managing Director of the national flag carrier, Captain Nadeem Yousufzai.
Talking to reporters in the Sri Lankan capital he said: “We would like to have
those aircraft which are fuel economical having two engines and a two-person
cockpit”. Captain Yousufzai pointed out that the PIA needed aircraft for both
long-range and medium-range distances. A study was being carried out in this
regard.
Captain Yousufzai was in Colombo in connection with the re-launch of PIA flights
from Karachi to Colombo after a gap of over three years.He said that the PIA was
going to expand its operations in accordance with the vision of President Asif
Ali Zardari.
Capt Yousufzai referred to his meeting with the officials of the Civil Aviation
of Sri Lanka and said that the Sri Lankans had wholeheartedly welcomed us. Same
was of attitude of the officials of Air Lanka.
Captain Yousufzai said
that PIA would enter into code-sharing with Air Lanka and that” we would go to
Australia”.
