PICO (Pakistan Information Cultural Organisation Australia) had
organised a very beautiful “Fun Night” on the 31st of May 2008. The venue of
this occasion was situated at Wentworthville Redgum Centre Sydney. The function
started off with Talawat-e-Qu’ran-e-Pak recited by Talha Ghani. After the
Talawat, the National Anthem of Australia and Pakistan were performed by Mehreen
Javed.
The President of PICO, Iqbal Zaki, welcomed the guests to the event and
expressed his gratitude and explained the aim of the PICO organisation which is
to promote the young generation’s talents for example naat, singing, sports,
intellect etc. Also to provide community services to Senior Citizens, to
organise the cultural activities to get together families and also to organise
national events such as Pakistan Independence Day, Eid functions and similar
activities to promote our culture.
Previously, PICO had organised a successful cruise last year on 17th November
2007. He also appreciated the sponsors who supported PICO to organise such a
beautiful evening. The contributing sponsors included Fresco Foods, Thai
Airways, Allsun Holidays, Standard Indian Restaurant & Rainbow Village Child
Care, Bundu Khan Restaurant, Sydney Forex, Sydney Taxi Training, Car Master and
Better Tools.
After the welcoming
speech, the entertainment part of the show had started off with some local
artists, among them names such as Riaz Shah, Vijay Jogiah, Yahyah, Sania Saeed,
Sikandar, Shelly and many other talented artists accompanied by Studio VTC. Also
present amongst these professional artists, a young Pakistani high school girl
Mehreen Javed sang three beautiful songs and was highly appreciated by the
audience. The songs performed were suitable for all audiences as a variety of
both old and latest songs allowed for everyone to enjoy and appreciate the
entertainment.The programme was compared by Omer Ghani and Abid Shakeel .
Also a special award was presented to Munaum Muhammad for his effortless
contribution to create a very professional slide show presentation. The award
was rewarded by the President Iqbal Zaki sponsored by Thai Airways and Allsun
Holidays.
All the PICO members allocated a lot of time and effort to organise this special
evening. Especially President Iqbal Zaki who was highly active and used his
experience to advise and manage the event professionally, our General Secretary
Umar Ghani used his experience to organise the entertainment section of the
program and Javed Muhammad and his family took responsibility to collect
information from sponsors for creating the slide show. All the other members
equally contributed for selling tickets and created the arrangement of the hall.
The evening turned out to be very successful. The security, reception,
entertainment and dinner were excellent and satisfying to the guests as positive
feedback was offered by every single person. A special door prize was sponsored
by Thai Airways and Allsun Holidays for one lucky person to fly from
Sydney-Bangkok-Sydney. The winner of this lucky prize was Aleem Latif of
Bankstown. The prize was awarded by President Iqbal Zaki at the end of the
event.
