Pakistan’s exports to Australia have been steadily increasing

Thank you for your interest in asking about Pakistan’s export to Australia for the benefit of readers of Sada-e-Watan. Pakistan’s exports to Australia have been steadily increasing since 2006-07, 2007-08 as well as in latest period of July-November 2008-09 also due to good quality /price ratio of Pakistani products, efforts of the exporters and liberal policies of the government of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s export, despite a relatively small base was on a declining trend between 2002 and mid 2006. Years of monthly decline reversed in May 2006 and since then; there has been modest growth in export. The momentum seemed difficult to maintain in 2007-08 and 2008-09, given multiple problems in Pakistan which effected supply chain and production schedule, distribution and delivery and generally negative perceptions due to escalation in violence and Pakistan becoming an increasing victim of terrorism. But in these period also, exports continued to rise.

Pakistan’s export during July-June 2007-08, increased by 12.8% in US$ terms and in July Sept 2008-09, it increased by 19.8%. In terms of Australian $ and Australian figures, exports increased by 17% in July-Nov 2008-09 as compared to same period of 07-08. With the policies, exporters’ efforts and our community’s well wishes, I am confident export will rise more than 17% for July-June 08-09.
