Speech of the P.B.A President:

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of you on the 59th Pakistan Independence Day. I would also like to announce that today, the Chief Minister & Minister for the Business and Economic Development, Mr. Jon Stanhope will be officially launching the Pakistan Business Association of Canberra.

Ladies and Gentlemen as you know, I have served the Pakistan Australia Friendship Association as President for 4 continuos years. My executives & I successfully lobbied & transferred the leadership of PAFA to young, modern thinkers like Mr. Khawar Saleem Khan and his dynamic team because I strongly believe that ONLY younger people can represent Modern Pakistan. Tonight’s function is a living proof of harmony and unity and credit goes to these PAFA Executives.

After achieving this goal, I decided to form the Pakistan Business Association of Canberra.  Through this organization I wish to bring the Pakistani Business community together and explore the opportunities of growth. Pakistani businesses are very young and going through the developing process, thus it was in need of an organization that can represent them on one platform.

Some of the objectives of the association are:

· to promote the establishment of the small businesses

· to assist and provide facilities for industrial research  AND

· to provide a forum primarily for Pakistani businesses in Canberra & Queanbeyan to promote and to

cooperate with the government and other associations in the attainment of such objectives.

I would like to encourage specially those involved practically & physically in business or thinking of doing business within the Canberra region to join the Pakistan Business Association.

Now I would like to introduce the executives of the association:

Founder President:   Zia Qureshi JP                     Director of H & Q Realty Pty Ltd.

Vice President:           Khalid Hafiz                         Director of Tilston Pty Ltd

Secretary:                    Peter Herbert                       Director of PCH Services

Treasurer:                    Lynn Qureshi                      Director of Qureshi Import & Export

Executive:                   Melanie Faris

Executive:                   Sheikh Iftikhar Hussain

We executives at the PBA, look forward to working with you and making sure the relevant government departments hear our combined voices.

Finally I leave you with this thought:

Take the challenge, realize the potential, imagine the possibilities, plan to succeed together, we will achieve. Let’s make it happen.
