President General Pervez Musharraf and Australian Governor General Maj Gen) Michael Jeffery expressed the mutual desire on Tuesday evening to enhance Pakistan-Australia relationship. The two leaders, meeting briefly ahead of the state banquet, hosted by the Governor General shared the hope that the two countries would develop stronger cooperation in areas of bilateral interest. Upon arrival at the Government House, the residence of the Governor General, Jeffers warmly received the President. The Governor General expressed the hope that President Musharraf's visit - the first ever by a Pakistani head of State - would be a milestone in forging closer links. President Musharraf briefed the host leader about Pakistan's economic achievements and its desire to develop trade and economic ties with Asian countries and Australia. Senior members of President's delegation also attended the banquet.
