and Governor Punjab
An Australian Parliamentary Delegation led by Senator John Hogg, President of
the Australian Senate is on a 6-days visit to Pakistan. The delegation was
warmly welcomed by Senator Osman Saifullah Khan, Senator- in-waiting at Benazir
International Airport, Islamabad. Secretary Senate Iftekharullah Babar and
Senior Officers of the Senate were also present on the occasion. It is pertinent
to mention here that the invitation was given by Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer
Hussain Bokhari.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Pakistan was very keen to promote commerce and trade relations with Australia. Talking to the Australian parliamentary delegation led by Senator John Hogg, President of Australian Senate which called on him at the Prime Minister’s House Islamabad.

PM Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Australia was an important development partner of Pakistan and “we value this relationship.” “We are thankful for Australia’s timely generous assistance for relief against floods”, said the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Ashraf informed the visiting delegation that there were great investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially in coal and power generations.
Hogg on behalf
of his delegation thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for the
hospitality extended to them during their visit to Pakistan.
He said the purpose of the visit was to learn from the experiences of the
Pakistani parliamentarians in dealing with their constituents in an era of
revolutionary changes in information technology and social media, which were
placing increasing and challenging demands on members of parliament.
He said Australia looked forward to the visit of Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar
Hussain Bokhari to Australia, to return the hospitality extended to the
delegation in Pakistan.
The senator said that Pakistan and Australia enjoyed close relationship. He
added that Pakistan had an important role to play in the stability of the
region.
Hogg informed the prime minister that the delegation would travel to Afghanistan
and meet the parliamentarians there as well. He also informed the PM that the
interaction of the delegation with the parliamentarians and other sections of
society in Pakistan had remained fruitful and they had got first-hand knowledge
of ground realities in Pakistan.
Raja thanked the delegation for visiting Pakistan and applauded their resolve to
strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries.
He said that Australia was an important development partner of Pakistan and that
Pakistan valued this relationship. “We are thankful for Australia’s timely
generous assistance for relief against floods,” Raja said.
He said that Pakistan was very keen to promote commerce and trade relations with
Australia. He informed the visiting delegation that there were great investment
opportunities in Pakistan, especially in coal mining and power generation.
He said that Australia was a choice destination of Pakistani students for higher
education. He thanked the Australian government for providing generous
scholarships for Pakistani students.

Acting President Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari on Thursday underlined the need for enhanced bilateral parliamentary contacts and trade ties between Pakistan and Australia for the welfare of two countries.

Talking to Australian Parliamentary delegation, the Acting President said Pakistan highly values its relations with Australia as an important country and development partner for Pakistan.

The delegation called on Bokhari led by President of Australian Senate, Hon John Hogg. It is on a six-day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of the Acting President. Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari also host a reception in honour of the Australian Parliamentary Delegation.

Australian Senate President, Senator John Hogg has said that the Australian government values high its relations with Pakistan and keen to further strengthen its economic ties with Pakistan. Senator John, who was heading a 17-member Parliamentary delegation, was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday 31 August.

He said that Australia has the best avenues of vocational training for Pakistani businessmen and vowed to strengthen the trade ties of both the nations.

Australian Senate President, Senator John Hogg has stressed for promoting and strengthening parliament to parliament relations between the two countries. Addressing a reception hosted by Australian High Commission at a local hotel here on Saturday for Australian Parliamentary delegation, he said that they were here to express solidarity with Pakistan. Mr John said the two countries should share same benefits for strengthening mutual ties adding they would take warm memories to Australia.

Tehreek-i- Insaaf’s Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood at the central
media secretariat Lahore.
Welcoming the delegation Shafqat Mahmood appreciated the delegation’s resolve
for strengthening relations between the two countries. This was followed by
healthy and productive discussions about the challenges that faced Pakistan and
PTI’s stance to bring about change with policies that will rebuild Pakistan.
Shafqat also condoled the death of the five Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.
Senator John Hogg and his colleagues appreciated the party Chairman Imran Khan’s
views and position taken on relevant issues. He said the delegates were aware of
the ground realities faced by the country and the discussion progressed on the
prevalent economic and social conditions faced by Pakistan and Australia’s view
on the war on terror.
Saniya Sajid briefed the delegates about the Chairman’s stand on uniting the
nation, his stand on non violence and sectarian policies by giving an account of
the PTI jalsa in Quetta.
Talath Naqvi briefed the delegates about the challenges faced by nation and the
role the PTI women are determined to play to alter the existing status quo.
The President of Australian Senate‚ Senator John Hogg has said Pakistan and
Australia are working together to strengthen democracy by enhancing cooperation
among Parliamentarians of the two countries. Speaking at a reception in Lahore
he said people to people contacts will create opportunities for promoting
bilateral cooperation between Australia and Pakistan.Deputy leader of delegation
Senator David Johnston said democracy is flourishing in Pakistan.
