A brief background about the Release of Movie “VIRSA”
Virsa is the first truly international Punjabi film with cast and crew from India, Pakistan and Australia. Virsa has been shot extensively in Sydney, Australia. It brings together the best of the talent from these three countries to give the viewers of Punjabi films an international cinematic experience like never before. Virsa also marks the launch of Aarya Babbar into Punjabi films. Having won critical acclaim for his work in Hindi films, Aarya Babbar now steps into Punjabi films with Virsa. Opposite him is Mehreen Raheal making her debut in the film. Other prominent actors include Gulshan Grover, Kanwaljeet Singh and Naumaan Ijaz. Vrsa’s melodious music does have the flavor of Rahat’s song Mein Tenu Samjawa.
Virsa will debut as part of the Dallas International Film Festival’s “Super Saturday Presentations “on April 10th, being one of seven featured films premiering on Saturday, April 10, 2010 including such selections as HOLD directed by Frank Mosley; Roadside Attractions’ THE JONESES, written and directed by Derrick Borte and starring Demi Moore, David Duchovny, Gary Cole, Lauren Hutton and Amber Heard;
Virsa – is a movie with complete international flavor. Shot in most scenic of Australian locations it is bound to be a treat for the audience. The unique backdrop of Virsa brings together artists from Australia as well as two important nations of Indian sub-continent, India and Pakistan. This has been a bold move on the part of the producers to make a cocktail of talent from India and Pakistan and what brilliance has been achieved. Media is speculating that this will lead to new trend of cross border talent fusion in bollywood, a trend that will be supported by the lovers of cinema and culture. Music world sensation Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s melodious sufi voice has been instrumental in bringing the sound of our own soil to Australia through Virsa.
The melodious soundtracks have been composed by Famous Pakistan music Director Jawad Ahmad and the songs have been sung Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Jawad Ahmad himself and Krishna and Richa Sharma. The Quick Gun Murugan fame cinematographer R.A.Krishnaa has captured the extravagant locations of Australia.
The film stars Aarya Babbar, Gulshan Grover & Mehreen Raheal who are working in a Punjabi film for the first time, along with Kanwaljit Singh, Naumaan Ijaz, Aman Dhaliwal and Aparna Sharma. Directed by Pankaj Batra, ‘Virsa’ is one of the first Punjabi films which has almost entirely been shot in the breathtaking locales of Australia. Kanwajit's new look and character will be surprise for the audience. International distributor, music channel B4U, will release the movie in UK, US, Canada, Australia and Germany. Virsa Music has been released by Times Music and is already a big hit in India.“Virsa” is a courageous effort to make Punjabis aware of their traditions, their customs, their values and the pride of their Punjabiyat.
