Sufi Singer Rahat Fateh has arrived in Australia

Pakistan’s Renowned Sufi
singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has arrived in Australia on the evening of Thursday,
04 March 2010. He arrived From Lahore to Brisbane International Airport at at
8:49pm. He is performing for the first time in Australia. Rahat has sung on the
background score of Mel Gibson’s Oscar-nominated film Apocalypto. The score was
composed by James Horner.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a world renowned musician, and is primarily known for
his melodic renditions of Qawwali. In addition to Qawwali, he also sings Ghazals
(a semi-classical form of Pak-Indian music). Rahat has performed in USA more
than 20 times; he has performed in Karangi Theater in New York, Key Arena in
Seattle, House of Blues, Hollywood Bowl and Shrine in Los Angeles.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has produced hit songs in many Bollywood blockbusters and
the Australian audience will experience the Bollywood hits live with a
difference as a rare treat. Rahat hails from a strong musical family. He is the
nephew of the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan under whom he studied the
art of classical music. Under the tutelage of his uncle, his first public
performance was at the age of eleven.
In Australia, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s first Concert is at Chandler Theatre,
Sleeman Sports Complex Brisbane on Friday 5th March. He will perform on
Saturday, 6th March at Sydney Convention Centre Bayside Auditorium which is
turning out to be a much anticipated one by his fans. The concert is promoted by
Red Chillies Entertainment and will feature Rahat’s entire troupe of 13
musicians, many of who performed with Rahat’s uncle, the legendary late Nusrat
Fateh Ali Khan. The concert will also feature a performance by Raga Boyz.
In Sydney, this spectacular musical performance will thrill audience with the
incredible vocals of Rahat, along with a powerful live musical backdrop of his
talented 13 member troupe. Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour show is a
three-hour musical bonanza and will cater for all Bollywood fans and Sufi,
Qawali and devotional music including famous songs of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan such
as Mast Kalandar.
