Speech of Mr.Ashraf Chohan at the Eid Milan Party at the NSW Parliament House Organised by PAA

Honourable members of the Parliament, Consul General of Pakistan, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, as you  may know that we are here to celebrate the Eid festival which is as a result of happy ending of holly month of Ramadan.  Celebrating this event in the Parliament since last couple of few years has now become the tradition and regular feature of Pakistan Association of Australia (PAA), for which I am thankful to the members of parliament of NSW who did facilitate and assist us in organising this event.

Indeed this is a great opportunity for us not only to celebrate our major religious festival with our friends from different communities, cultures and religions but also to share religious thoughts with a view to bring harmony and peace in the community, and that’s what the religion is all about. I welcome you at this celebration and hope you will have an enjoyable evening. I also welcome Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. It’s a pleasure to have him here at this occasion. On behalf of PAA I am extremely thankful to Syed Zafar Hussain of Sada e Watan for keeping the community well informed about every event happening in Australia especially in Sydney. This online edition is doing remarkable job in updating the community of every relevant news around the world.

Dear Distinguish
Guests,

Good Evening
,Aslam-alakum and Eid Mubarak,
First of all I must thank all of you, to have taken out some time from your busy schedule, to grace this occasion.
Today we have gathered here to celebrate and rejoice Eid ul Fitr Milan Celebration which is in the continuity for the remembrance of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr

The month of Ramadan is the 9th month of Islamic Loner calendar, and symbolizes faithfulness, patience and fortitude.
As you are aware that the month of Ramadan has special significances as the Holy Koran was revealed in this month, and God made it compulsory for every Muslim to fast in this month.
The spirit of fasting is not limited to remain Hungry and Thirsty, but it’s a month of tolerance, patience, compassions, respect for others and remembrance of those millions of poor and down trodden people who sleep hungry and thirsty every day.

To think of those underprivileged people who die every day due to starvation and hunger in the world.
Today we are here to commemorate and remember those unfortunate people in the world. So I am requesting to hold a minute of silence for those people suffering in the world today due to the crisis in Japan, Pakistan, Somalia, Africa, America and other parts of the world. Please---------------remain silent

Let me also share with you that, fasting is not only binding on Muslims, but it is equally binding on Christians, Jews, as it is mentioned in the holy Bible and Hebrew and other religions of god.
It is important for every Muslim to have faith in Prophet Adam, Abrahim, Moses, David, Ismail , Isaac and all the other prophets. In Islam, while we believe that Prophet Muhammad ( PBH) was the final prophet, it is mandatory on us as Muslims not to make any distinction between the prophets.

We all are followers of the same one God, and we are children of the same Adam and Eve, so what is the difference?
The very meaning of the word “Islam” is peace.
Allah says that he who killed one human being has killed the whole humanity.

Let us make a commitment today that we will not be moved merely by emotions and narrow thinking in ourselves. We must exercise restraint, tolerance and create interfaith harmony, and universal brotherhood.

On this occasion I thank the Australian Government and people of Australia who have provided us an opportunity to serve this country, and let me assure you, that we are equally loyal to Australia as to our Mother country Pakistan, as we have to live and die here.

Let me also give a piece of advice to our young generation who are born and brought up in Australia, that their home now is Australia, and it is on them to respond and respect culture and religions of this country.
Believe me we are privileged and lucky people to have made this country our abode.

lastly on behalf of Pakistan Association of Australia and Pakistani Community, I thank you all for participating in this function, and specially thank honorable Barbra Perry for hosting, facilitating and providing opportunity to hold this function in the parliament house.(GIVE BIG HAND)

May God bless us all and give strength to serve Australian and Pakistani Communities alike.
Also I would like to acknowledge and thank the following for attending this occasion:-Thank you very much.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD
