Younis Khan’s Team South Australia Crushed NSW by 173 runs in Sydney Cricket Ground

South Australia crushed NSW by 173 runs at the SCG to leave the Blues in last place in the domestic one-day competition. South Australia has defeated New South Wales in their domestic one-day cricket match at the SCG on the afternoon of Tuesday, 16th December 2008. There was also a lot of local Pakistanis in the record crowd at Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Blues could only manage 112 runs off 30 overs against the Redbacks' 285.Tom Cooper was named man of the match for his 101 off 108 balls for South Australia. Mark Cleary was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 29 from 10 overs. Young batsman Tom Cooper, discarded by the Blues in the off-season, returned to haunt his former side with 101 off 108 deliveries to help guide South Australia to an impressive 5-285 from their 50 overs.

NSW were then never in the hunt, apart from some more lusty hitting from in-form opener David Warner (31 off 20 balls) in the opening overs, and dismissed for just 112 as they crashed to their fifth defeat from seven one-day matches. South Australia's Mark Cleary took 3-29 from his 10 overs, while Shaun Tait made a promising return from a hamstring injury to take 2-40 from eight overs as the Redbacks claimed two bonus points in the one-sided contest. The win lifts South Australia from the bottom of the table up to fourth position and leaves the young Blues line-up propping up the ladder. Already boasting two half-centuries from three appearances in the one-day competition, the 22-year-old Cooper shared in a 128-run stand with Younis Khan (29) as he brought up three figures for the first time.
