Dear Bhai Zafar Hussain

Sada-e-Watan Sydney
I Just wanted to share a good news. Yesterday (Sunday 28 August 2005), at the
AGM of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW (ECC), I was elected as a Vice
Chairman on its Management Committee.
The Ethnic Communities' Council of NSW (ECC) is a non-government peak body
representing 100’s of organisations and people from the multicultural community
in NSW. It is run democratically by its members and is governed by its
Management and Executive Committees.
The ECC's primary roles are advocacy, education and community development. The
ECC actively promotes the principles of multiculturalism and works vigorously
towards the further development of a multicultural society. The Council believes
that everyone in Australia has the right to participate fully in our society.
The Council is involved in developing strategies regarding the most important
issues to touch ethnic communities - and these include housing, employment,
education and health.
Pak community, through Pakistan Association of Australia (PAA), has three
community representatives on the ECC:
Khalil Allahwala
Qalbi-Abbas Rana
Councillor Saeed Khan (Me)
The good news doesn’t end here… Khalil has also been co-opted as an Executive
Member of the ECC and Abbas will be joining him in September. This can only be
good for our community and our strong representation on the ECC will further
assist our community and PAA’s role in the mainstream.
In continuing our work for a multicultural society, we also hope to promote:
1. Better understanding of multiculturalism and related issues among Australian
Pakistanis
2. Better understanding of Pakistani community and their contribution among
other Australians
Kind Regards,
Your Friend,
Cheers,
Saeed Khan (The Greens)
