Noshi Gillani’s Mother has passed away

Famous poetess Noshi Gilani's beloved mother, Mrs. Sarwar Gilani Sahiba, passed away yesterday morning in Bahawalpur, Pakistan.

Mrs. Sarwar Gilani was a professor of Urdu & Farsi languages and literature and has been a profound influence in Noshi’s development as an outstanding poet, intellectual and a strong human being. Noshi was said to be very close to her mother.

Ms Noshi Gilani is currently living in San Francisco and had recently returned from an extended holiday in Pakistan.

This year, Noshi was invited to attend Urdu Society’s International Mushaira on September 9 in Sydney but was enable to attend due to personal reasons.

Dr Shabbir Haider, the Advisor of Sada-e-Watan Sydney & President of Urdu Society of Australia has extended a message of condolences to Noshi Gillani on behalf of its members and all Urdu loving Australians. May god bless Noshi’s mother’s soul and give her the strength to get through these difficult times. Our prayers are with her.
