Famous Pakistani Singer Shagufta Zia is visiting Sydney
Shagufta will be performing LIVE at the India Australia Friendship Fair on Sunday 6th August 2006 at Sydney Olympic Park-Athletic Centre. The fair will be from 11:00 am to 8:00pm. It will consist of multi-cultural entertainment programmes, food & Variety Stalls and fun Rides & Fireworks. Shagufta Zia will perform at 3:30pm. She will sing two famous Pakistani songs Lal Meri Pat Rakhiyo & Challa Cham Cham Chamka.
Shagufta is nationally and internationally renowned vocalist of the capital city of New Zealand. She contacted Syed Zafar Hussain of Sada-e-Watan and provided her profile. She is a gifted singer with the sweet, soft, clear and feminine voice. Shagufta would live up to her name, with her voice letting a thousand flowers bloom if as the bard said, “sweetness in the air” lends life to nature.
Originally, she is an outstanding and versatile vocalist from Pakistan Television, Radio and stage for over 18 years. She is equally adept in rendering songs and jingles. She has the ability to compose music and write songs. She has an ability to sing in 14 dialects. Her talent has won her many awards and accolades.
The awards range from Pakistan TV “Best Singer Award” to the “Best Performance Award” given away by Pakistan’s Former Prime Minister Benezir Bhutto on a national occasion.
She won the “Golden Voice Of Pakistan” title in 1994 during her stay in Fiji.
She has been devoting her time and talent to entertain all the multi ethnic communities in New Zealand for the last 10 years. She represented Pakistan at the Asia 2001 Festival in Wellington and was widely appreciated by even those who do not understand Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi because music is a universal language so everyone enjoys a beautiful and different music.

Ø Independence Day Celebrations – both Pakistan and India , in Wellington, Auckland and Palmerston North

Ø Regularly featured at the Diwali Festival conducted by ASIA 2000 Foundation and the Wellington City Council every year.
Shagufta has released four cultural song albums and they all got fame globally. Her latest CD named Shehnai has a mix of love and colourful wedding songs for all the music lovers. She has the video recordings of her TV Songs as well as the video on DVD of some of her songs from her new CD Shehnai.
