Message of Hon.Shaoquett Moselmane for Ramadan Mubarak

Dear Brothers and Sister in Islam.

Ramadan Mubarak.

It is with great pleasure that I write this message of my heartfelt greetings, through my dear friend Mr Zafar Hussain and his Sada-e-Watan, to all Muslims and non Muslims alike in this holiest month of Ramadan 2011.

In Islam, Ramadan is the most blessed, holiest and most spiritual month of the Islamic year. It is a month of prayers, fasting and charity.

It is a month of reflection, of generosity, sacrifice and spirituality. It is a month where all Muslims around the globe observe restraint and deep feelings with the poor, the  orphan and the under privileged.

A time of solidarity with humanity. A time of charity and compassion and sympathy and giving to those most in need as we now see in the hungry and poverty stricken people of Sudan and other parts of the world.

It is also a time of reflection for the people oppressed around the world, whether it is the People of Palestine or the Norwegians massacred by a terrorist extremist enraged with hatred toward others. Our heartfelt sympathies go to the families of each of those mercilessly killed by a cold hearted and a calculating ruthless terrorist.

In Australia, we are a lucky people. Blessed to live in peace, respect and in a society where all respect one another's diversity.

Australia's diversity is one of its key strengths as diversity brings different experiences and enriches us all. It helps us celebrate our diversity, accept and understand our civil society.

Ramadan is a time where all should rejoice in what we have in this country.

I wish all Muslims a happy and a bountiful month full of joy and giving.

I take this opportunity to wish all Muslims well in these holiest of days, the presence amongst us of Sheikhul Islam Dr Mohammed Tahir-ul-Qadri Qadri, a truly humble and a pious man, a man of peace.

May Allah accept all of your fasting, Prayers and good deeds.

Ramdan Mubarak, Wal Salamu Alyakum .
