President Musharraf, High Commissioner, Minister of Industries Pakistan
The President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf attended a large gathering at the Sydney Intercontinental Hotel for members of the Pakistani Community in Sydney. Pakistanis from other states in the country also attended this gathering. The gathering was organised by the Consul General of Pakistan Sydney Mr Ejaz Ahmed. Invitation cards for the gathering were issued by the High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr Babar W. Malik. Mr. Muhammad Sarfraz Ahmed Khanzada, Deputy High Commissioner was the Master of Ceremony. The President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf was welcomed by The High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr Babar Malik.
President Pervez Musharraf, in his mixed English & Urdu Speech said the poverty and unemployment have decreased for the first time as a result of Government's policies. He said the Government has a comprehensive strategy to decrease poverty in the urban as well as in rural areas. President Pervez Musharraf said today country faces no external threat as it has a strong military and stable economy. He said the only threat the country is facing today is from extremism and terrorism and reiterated his resolve to deal with terrorism with iron hands. Regarding the peace process with India, President Pervez Musharraf expressed optimism that the Kashmir dispute could be resolved with sincerity and flexibility. President urged the expatriate Pakistanis to take pride in their country and forge unity among their ranks and strive to enhance country's image in the world.
More than 500 Pakistani's with their wives attended this Function. More than 100 Prominent Pakistani's including Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Ejaz Ahmed (Host) were standing during the president's Speech due to an unexpected large gathering. President General Musharraf explained Pakistan's Internal situation with facts and figures. He also gave detailed answers from the audience.
