St John's Anglican Church Dee Why Sydney holds Pakistan Flood Relief Fundraiser on 9/11
In a remarkable act of spiritual generosity, special prayers were held at St. John's Anglican Church Dee Why Sydney for the people of Pakistan after a flood relief concert attended by over 200 people on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Speaking on the occasion, the Acting Consul General of Pakistan Mr.Hamid Asghar appreciated the generosity of the Australian people and public in helping Pakistan at this difficult time commenting on the need for understanding among different religions he said that there are over two billion Muslims in the world today and international migration and travel, media and communications and economic interdependencies were bringing people of different cultures together Like never before, hence tolerance and understanding for each others religion were essential for peaceful coexistence.
The Rector of the church Steven Salmon ssc appealed for contributions to be made for the flood affectees of Pakistan and all proceeds were given to the Australian Red Cross which Mr. Hamid khan acknowledged is doing wonderful relief work in Pakistan.There were piano, classical singing and violin performances by three young Australians which were greatly appreciated by the congregation.
Mr.Hamid Asghar informed them that Pakistan was a vital partner in the global war against terror and said that Pakistan security forces had lost almost 4000 men during operations against extremists since 9/11.
