President PAFA Khawar Saleem Speaking at Lunch
PAFA Fundraising luncheon for SWAT IDP
Chief Guest High Commissioner of Pakistan His Excellency Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani along with Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Tasawar Khan, Pakistan’s Defence Advisor Brigadier Babar Mansour Virk, Dr. Lynne Reeder Chairperson of Save the children, Ms. Ruth Tannahill from Save the Children and a large number of Pakistani community members of Canberra attended this event. The Fundraising Lunch was held at Taj Agra Restaurant Belconnen Canberra.
Main Speakers for the
afternoon were President of PAFA Mr. Khawar Saleem Khan, His Excellency Syed
Jalil Abbas Jilani and Dr. Lynne Reeder. They highlighted the crises situation
and stressed on the importance and urgency of the need to raise funds for the
internally displaced people of Swat Valley and surrounding regions of Pakistan,
they urged everyone to donate generously for their brothers and sisters in
trouble in Pakistan. Audience responded generously and many pledges for the
donation were made. Ms. Ruth Tannahill presented a book on the 90 Years of
history of save the children to His Excellency Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani.
PAFA will soon collect all pledged amount along with the proceeds of the
luncheon and will report to all community members about how much in total was
collected and will deposit this amount to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Relief
Fund. PLEASE NOTE that if you missed the lunch you still are more than welcome
to donate for this cause by depositing in to the PAFA bank account (please
mention Swat relief).
