Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, Provincial Health Minister Govt. of Punjab
Dr Tahir Ali Javed, son of Dr N.A.Javed (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), was born on April 26, 1965 at Sialkot. He obtained the degree of M.B.B.S. in 1988 from King Edward Medical College, Lahore; and acquired higher studies from USA. He has specialized in cancer, blood diseases, internal medicine and bone-marrow transplant surgery. He has been elected as Member Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in General Elections 2002, and is functioning as Minister for Health since January 4, 2003.
Australia gives $5m for ophthalmologic projects in Pakistan
Australia has
provided $5 million for several projects meant to provide modern ophthalmologic
facilities to people living in remote areas of Pakistan. This statement was
issued at Lahore by provincial Health Minister of Punjab Dr Tahir Ali Javed.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 3rd orientation workshop on Paediatric
Ophthalmology (a World Health Organisation/Lions Sight project) at the Punjab
Institute of Preventive Ophthalmology (PIPO) at Mayo Hospital, Dr Javed thanks
the Australian government for assisting and cooperating in medical projects.
Minister Dr. Tahir Ali Javed said a project, in collaboration with Australia,
had been started under an eye-care program, which included training surgeons to
operate on eyes.
