Tanveer Akhtar Khaskheli becomes Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan

Presently, Mr. Tanveer Akhtar Khaskheli
is the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in Australia. A senior diplomat Mr.
Khaskheli is the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan in Australia since last
year.
Government of Pakistan formally announced that its former foreign office
spokesman and Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Syed Jalil Abbas
Jilani would be its next High Commissioner to Australia. He would take up his
new assignment in the next month of June. He is coming to Canberra from
Islamabad.
According to diplomatic sources, Islamabad’s decision to appoint Mr. Gilani, a
career diplomat, was a right one, as only a professional and experienced
diplomat should hold the top job in Pakistan’s High Commission in Australia.
Mr. Jalil Abbas has been asked to make preparations to take up his new
assignment. He would engage in consultations in the foreign ministry and other
ministries and seek “guidance” from the Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr. Shaukat
Aziz and President General Pervez Musharraf.
Sada-e-Watan Sydney believed that Australia -Pakistan relations were moving in a
“positive direction” and hoped that things would improve in the future through
new envoy Mr. Gilani & his Minister Mr. Tanveer Akhtar Khaskheli.
