Australian Trade Minister Warren Truss is Visiting Pakistan
The Consul General
of Pakistan to Sydney Mr. Azam Mohammed is in Lahore for an official assignment
regarding the Cairns meeting. He informed Sada-e-Watan that Lahore is hosting
the 31st Ministerial Meeting of Cairns Group from April 16-18 2007. The
Australian Trade Minister Mr. Warren Truss who is in Pakistan, officially opened
the important meeting. Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Mr. Humayun Akhtar Khan was
present beside the Australian Trade Minister. Mr. Humayun Akhtar addressed the
first session & welcomed all guests.
The meeting is the first to be hosted by Pakistan, which joined the Group in
late 2005. Besides the trade ministers from the member countries, Director
General World Trade Organization (WTO), Pascal Lamy is attending the meeting on
a special invitation.
Consul General of Pakistan to Sydney Mr. Azam Mohammed will be back in Australia
next week. He hopes that Cairns Group Ministerial meeting and Australia Trade
Minister’s official visit to Pakistan will impact positively on Pakistan Trade
with Australia.
