Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman is on official visit of Australia from 01
March-05 March 2011. He is in Melbourne. The Acting High Commissioner of
Pakistan Mr. Tasawar khan and senior Australian Military officials welcome him
in Melbourne Victoria. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman is attending
AIR FORCE CHIEFS GATHER FOR MAJOR CONFERENCES
AT AIRSHOW.
Air Force chiefs and senior military personnel from around the world will
descend on Avalon in March for a broad range of international conferences,
seminars and symposia.
The 2011 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition
feature a comprehensive conference program, including the prestigious Air Chiefs
Symposium.
The Royal Australian Air Force will host this major international gathering of
Air Chiefs as a prelude to Avalon2011, which brings together senior Air Force
and defence representatives from around the world.
In addition to the Air Chiefs Symposium, the 14th Australian International
Aerospace Congress will be staged. This pre-eminent aerospace forum will provide
significant technical and business opportunities for aerospace professionals,
particularly in the Australasian region.
“Hundreds of delegates, speakers and key decision makers from around the world
attend these conferences,” says Airshow CEO Ian Honnery. “This series of
aviation and aerospace conferences and seminars enhance the events reputation as
a major networking forum in the Asia Pacific Region.”
The Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition program
covers all aspects of aviation, including military, civil and general aviation.
For the first time Safeskies, Australia’s premier Aviation Safety Conference
will hold a seminar as part of Avalon2011 and as a lead up to the Safeskies 2011
Conference in October. The Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) is also
conducting an international summit which will explore plans for civil and
military collaboration and future directions in air traffic control.
In addition, AUVS-Australia is hosting its first annual conference in
conjunction with Avalon2011. This conference on the future unmanned capabilities
for Australia in both civil and military applications will compliment the
increased focus on UAV’s at this year’s Airshow. The Australian International
Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition will be held from March 1 – 6 at
Avalon Airport.
Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman
Born in 1954, Air Chief
Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman received his early education at PAF Public School,
Sargodha. Subsequently, he joined Pakistan Air Force and graduated from PAF
Academy, Risalpur in June 1975. After doing his Fighter and Operational
Conversion Courses, he initially flew the American F-86 (Sabre), and later all
types of Chinese and French fighter aircraft on PAF inventory. He is an
accomplished fighter pilot with rich experience on Mirages. He is a Qualified
Flying Instructor (QFI) and has been an instructor at the prestigious Combat
Commanders’ School. He commanded an elite Fighter Squadron, a Fighter Flying
Wing and a Fighter PAF Base.
In staff jobs at Air Headquarters, the Air Chief Marshal has served as Deputy
Director in Operations Branch, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Plans) and
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at the Inspector General’s Branch. In senior
staff assignments, the Air Chief Marshal has the distinction of having served as
Commandant PAF Air War College, Air Officer Commanding, Southern
Air Command, Director General, Air Force Strategic Command and Deputy Chief of
the Air Staff (Operations). The Air Chief Marshal has also served in the UAE Air
Force as an instructor pilot in a Fighter Squadron. He is a graduate of the PAF
Air War College, Faisal and National Defence University, Islamabad from where he
did his M Sc in Strategic Studies.
Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman assumed the command of the PAF on 19 March,
2009. He is married and blessed with three children. In recognition of his
meritorious and exceptionally dedicated services, he has been decorated with the
awards of Sitara-i-Basalat, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz
(Military) , Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Chief
Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman is 19th Chief of PAF.
