To mark the 67th
anniversary of Pakistan Day, High Commission for Pakistan H.E. Mr. Munawar Saeed
Bhatti hosted a Reception at Pakistan House on 26 March, 2007. Hon. Mr. Chris
Carter, Minister for Ethnic Affairs attended the reception on behalf of the New
Zealand Government and Mr. Murray McCullay, Member Parliament / National Party
Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs represented the Opposition. The reception was
well attended by local dignitaries including New Zealand Parliamentarians,
senior civil and military officials, diplomats and members of Pakistani
community living in New Zealand.
Earlier, a simple and elegant flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery on
23rd March which was attended by members of the visiting Parliamentary
delegation headed by Mr. Hamid Nasir Chatta, Chairman Kashmir Committee,
officials of the High Commission and members of Pakistani community living in
Wellington. The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed
by unfurling of the National flag & playing of national anthem.
